A recent run in with major acidity left me gagging for minutes at a time. Being a avid user of hot sauce on top of my food recently led me to have acid reflux or acidity big time. I had used over the counter items like Tums, or Rolaids to no benefit, prescription medications come with their own arms list of issues you can have, both offer relief after some time, ranging from 1 hour to 24 hours later.
If you are in pain, are suffering, this is not something you really want to hear — reaching for milk only adds seconds of relief but the reproach of acidity will get back you shortly after. The oils in milk increase the acidity in your stomach.
Water only helps with a cooling effect, not relieve you of your discomfort what so ever. In fact when I drank water, I could imagine adding water to the stomach which only raised the level of acid, like adding water to oil, it just didn’t mix.
One would think that putting out a fire in the home, we use water, but the opposite is required here. What we want to create here is not a base, which water creates, or milk does for you. So logic would dictate that adding an acid to your system would help — fighting fire with fire right? Wrong again! because that doesn’t work either. What we really want to do is create an alkali in our system which can handle the acid problem and be one of the benefits of apple against acidity.
ENTER APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
After careful research, I discovered that using UNFILTERED apple cider vinegar – a much milder form of vinegar, and the taste is less acidic. Other vinegars I would not utilize such as the white wine vinegar or balsamic, they just don’t work and are hard to swallow.
A note of caution, or rather just a note is to ensure that you shake the bottle as the unfiltered apple grounds on the bottom tends to settle at the bottom of the bottle is also a important factor to note in benefits of apple against acidity
BAKING SODA – NOT BAKING POWDER
The second ingredient you will need is baking soda. Baking soda also helps as a one of the benefits of apple against acidity. Be careful here, not to use baking powder, or any type of baking soda that is not meant for ingestion here. That stuff you put into your washing machine is one item to leave for just that, your washing machine. Other forms of baking soda are meant to deodorize and have other additives which are harmful if swallowed, so ensure you get only FOOD GRADE BAKING SODA and you should be ready to go.
SO WHAT NOW?
Okay, so now I have my apple cider vinegar and my food grade baking soda — what do I do now with it?
